CLIMBING

It takes about 3-6 hours to climb Mt. Agung, Bali’s highest mountain (see Bali Road Map – *N5) and it takes a day (return trip) to reach the summit of Mt. Batukaru (see Bali Road Map  – *I5). Guides are a must! For a more adventurous climb, try Mt. Rinjani in Lombok (ascent and descent – 3 days). Not advisable during the rainy season (Nov-March).

CYCLING

Cycling is a fantastic way to see Bali ‘off the beaten track’. Most pedal-pushers can find their own way around but there are also adventure companies offering guided excursions on bikes through mountain trails.

GOLF

Golfers in Bali have a choice of 4 world-class golf courses. On Bali’s South West coast, close to the famous temple of Tanah Lot, is the spectacular Nirwana Bali Golf Club, voted as Asia’s top golf venue. In Nusa Dua, you can tee off at the Bali Golf and Country Club. The Grand Bali Beach in Sanur offers a 9-hole golf course, whereas the award-winning Handara Golf Resort Bali, located at the beautiful and cool Bedugul countryside in Bali’s central lake district is a spectacular 18-hole golf resort and nature retreat that’s perfect for families. Don’t forget to try your swing at the beautiful New Kuta Golf, voted as Indonesia’s leading golf resort 2010-2011.

Mason Elephant Park and Lodge

Bali’s only dedicated elephant rescue reserve, the Mason Elephant Park & Lodge is home to 31 rescued and endangered Sumatran elephants, 4 of which were born here. The park provides guests with the opportunity to interact and learn about these gentle giants while giving the elephants a comfortable and safe environment. Set in 3.5 hectares, the park has been carefully landscaped to mimic as much as possible the original environment of the elephants’ previous home in Sumatra. The location in central Bali was also chosen for its cooler climate and more tropical location. Bathe the elephants, feed them, go on an elephant safari and take pictures with them. You could also stay at the Elephant Park & Lodge for an experience you’ll never forget. T: +62361 721 480 W:www.masonadventures.com
